Information Evening in relation to new Coaching Structure
Hi Current and Prospective Members,
Clonmel TC committee have taken the decision to hire a coordinating coach to provide more structured training plans for our athletes. Members will have a structured weekly plan that they can follow and which will aid their development and help prepare them for the racing season ahead.
After much discussions and meetings with various potential coaches, the committee have appointed Ian Purcell of I.P. Physical Therapy and Coaching as club coach for the 2019 season. Ian is a club member and has completed his Level 2 ITU/T.I. Coaching Qualification in the past year. Ian has a wealth of knowledge from racing and coaching over a number of years, up to and including Ironman distance.
Ian will be working with our current club coaches, Pat Boyd and Mike McCarthy for swimming, Sergiu Ciobanu for running, and cycle captains, to provide members with a balanced and structured plan that will be facilitated by club sessions. The plans will be streamed into Advanced, Intermediate, Novice and Beginner with sessions based on each athletes own ability level. The weekly plan and session content will be shared with members in advance. We plan to kick-off the new training schedule from Monday, 14th January.
We are holding an information session regarding training in The Brewery Bar, Mulcahys on Thursday, 10th January at 7pm. All members are invited to come along and hear first hand about the plans.
Looking forward to seeing you all there on the night for a full discussion on this new initiative!
Many thanks,
CTC Committee.
